Spicy Dry Fish Vorta of Bengal

As a bong girl I love to eat fishes. Though, during my childhood I was not that into fish, but these three years in South India have changed my taste and made me a fish lover.

Today, I am writing a dry fish recipe. Many people do not know how to cook dry fish and what all health benefits it has. They afraid of smell and avoid this particular item to eat.

Spicy dry fish vorta is a high protein fish item with spicy twist.

Ingredients:

  • Dry loitta fishes
  • Red chilli powder
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Chopped onion and garlic
  • Mustard oil
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Hot water

Step 1:

First clean the fishes properly and cut them into small pieces. Soak them in a salted hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. Now take out those fishes from the salted hot water, clean them with cold water and keep them aside.

Step 2:

Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onion and garlic. Fry them properly until they get the golden brown look. Now, add those fishes you kept aside and fry them nicely. Once your fishes get fried properly add some water and salt, cover it and let them boil in low flame for 5 to 10 minutes. Now, add red chilli and turmeric powder and mix it until those fishes are getting the gorgeous juicy look and become soft. Once your fishes will get the look like the image, your Spicy dry fish vorta of Bengal is ready to serve.

I always prefer rice with dry fish and I will suggest you to try it with rice first.

This is a traditional Bengali dish and I hope you will try it at home and give me your feedback by your comments.
