Winter is a time when practically we can eat a lot and specially sweet items. This is the reason that the people of Bengal pulled into making different kinds of pithas (Bengali traditional sweets) during winter. I know you want to have more. So, why are you waiting for the next winter? Bring pithas to your spring dinning table as dessert.
When I talk about pithas, I specially talk about Patishapta Pitha. This is a kind of pancake, but not exactly the one. The making of a patishapta pitha is so easy. One just needs ground rice, suji and khoa. Mix ground rice and suji with the help of water. Maintain the consistency like the pancake batter. Now simply take a pan and heat any vegetable oil. Make a round shape like a pancake using the batter and add khoa in the middle of it. Add it like a vertical line in the middle and then fold it like the image. Hmm…. Your patishapta pitha is ready.
Oh! Don’t forget the paesh, the Bengali love and queen of rice items. Made of milk and rice, this sweet can be sweeter with sugar or jaggery. If you can add some patali gur ( a special flavored jaggery ), you will be able to make it so perfect for the spring as patali gur will bring some color and flavor in it.
So lovelies, smile and enjoy the spring with these gorgeous Bengali desserts.
