For the Art

It was a sunny morning, and we decided to visit Colaba. Yes, that famous, pretty southern peninsula of Mumbai. Colaba is a place where my heart takes me again and again. This time for the Jehangir Art Gallery. In the heart of the city, Jehangir Art Gallery provides year long art exhibition schedules.  As an art lover, I couldn’t stop myself and ran to Colaba for arts.

This two-story building’s each floor has different sections with amazing art pieces. This time we enjoyed intriguing work of artist Pradip Maitra, Bulbul Rai, Deepti Nair and more.  The award-winning artist Pradip Maitra has portrayed his imagination into the canvas with vibrating colours, which has a vintage vibe of the Bengali Babu culture. On the other side, Bulbul Rai was more into describing the spiritual connection between Lord Shiva and Nandi, also Lord Hanuman. The artist expressed deep devotion using imagination. On the 1st floor, Deepti Nair exhibited her art pieces, where she connected Africa and India through the effects of woods and experiences. Her exhibition was very much story telling and connected to the mass in a simple yet unique way.

The footpath near the Jehangir Art Gallery was also covered by arts, as local artist joined hands to display their collections outside the gallery. They covered both the sides of the footpath, displaying different art pieces in different sizes. Their effort turned the area picture perfect.
