Shopping at Dakshinapan

Hey guys, I am back again with another content related to travel and shipping. You guys have seen me travelling to Kolkata lately on social media. This trip to the City of Joy was about a family event and my doctor’s appointment, both. But, I did not limit it within only these two purposes. I explored the city and shopped my heart out.

As I am fond of ethnic and handcrafted items, every city I visit, I try to explore such places. When I got to know about Dakshinapan from Ranu aunt and my sister Jaggyasenee, I just fixed a day to shop from there.

It was a Sunday noon. My sister and I booked a cab and stopped near the Dhakuria Rail Overbridge. Just right at the foot of the overbridge, we found a 57000 sqft. area with 141 shops. Yes, you heard it right, 141 shops of those people working at the root level of Indian handcraft and also all shops are undertaken by different state governments of India.

From home decor to fashion, Dakshinapan is here to give you different tastes from different parts of the country. This is not just a shopping centre, but also a place to know and experience the beauty of Indian handicraft. 

My Favourite Shops at Dakshinapan

I visited every single shop at Dakshinapan and love them all. But, some shops are way outstanding based on the price, quality and authenticity. Panthoibi (Manipur Emporium) and Pragjyotika (Assam Emporium) are such outstanding shops.

What I Wore at Dakshinapan

As it was a Sunday and the beginning of Autumn is hot in Kolkata, I decided to go white with little touch of bright pink. I choose to wear a Savana fringed shirt paring with the Flipkart’s white geometrical printed pencil skirt. I went white with the shoes too, which also I ordered from Flipkart in this winter. 

To make the look more interesting, I went with bright pink for my lips and a white eyeliner to match with the all white look. My pink dominating multicoloured beaded earring did a magic to balance the look.
