Gokarna, the beauty of Arabian Sea

Today I am giving you an idea of beautiful sea beach destination in Karnataka, India.Yes, it is Gokarna, a small town surrounded by Arabian Sea and Western Ghats.

Gokarna is known as small temple town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. The meaning of the name Gokarna is cow’s ear as the place is a ear shaped confluence of two rivers, Gangavali and Aghanashini.

To visit Gokarna is not that tough, It is too close to Goa as well as not that far from Bengaluru. From both the places buses and trains are available.

We went Gokarna from Bengaluru. We booked a night AC sleeper bus and within 9hrs we reached Gokarna Cross, from where our resort was just 1km.

If you want to go by train then the nearest railway station is located in Ankola, 20km away from the Gokarna town. In this case, you have to take a taxi or bus from the railway station to reach the town. International travellers can book their flights to Dabolim airpot, Goa. This airport is well linked with domestic and international cities in United Kingdom and Germany.From the airport they will get transport to Gokarna.

Hotels, resorts and restaurants are available in this region. You can choose them according to your preferences. We stayed at Sanskruti Resort, located just 4km away from Om and Kudle beach. Cab and auto services are available in this area.

The entire area is surrounded by beaches. The Gokarna beach is a open beach basically known as a Hindu pilgrim place. It is just near to the Gokarna market and Gokarna town. This beach is actually in northern direction, while other beaches (except Kudle Beach) are to the south. Kudle Beach is in the western direction.

Gokarna market is a very colourful place to attract tourists. You can buy clothes, accessories, fruits, spices and locally made home decors.

Om Beach is just 5km from the market. This is a naturally Om shaped beach and a beautiful place to spend your whole day near Arabian Sea.

You can travel to Paradise beach and Half Moon beach by boat as there are no other transport towards these two beaches.

This is to be mentioned that, the boating facility is available in all the beaches in Gokarna. There are different kind of boats with different tariffs. Paragliding is another attraction of this place.

If you are planing to visit South India or Goa, do not miss Gokarna. It is a place to remember. This less populated town can give you some space to relax in front to Arabian Sea.
